Our home was once a simple rental, but through careful renovation, we made it our forever home that is warm & showcases contemporary Mediterranean aesthetics. Like in all of our projects, we chose warm materials, such as hardwood floors and lime paint, to capture the essence of our beautiful surroundings and the community we have around us in Gènova.
Passionate about the process, we embraced a hands-on approach, undertaking a lot of the renovation work ourselves. This allowed us to bring meaning to every nook and cranny and invest a lot of attention to detail.
Upon entering our space, guests often share their impressions of feeling like they're on vacation or that our home mirrors the laid-back vibes of Venice Beach, California, blended with the charm of Mallorca. For us, it’s about creating an atmosphere that resonates with both personal meaning and the cultural influences that inspire us.
Given the limited space of our humble home, we had to get creative to make it feel more spacious. Through thoughtful design choices and strategic arrangements, we've managed to give the illusion of more room, proving that even small spaces can be both functional and inviting.
With Mallorca’s near-perfect weather and the stunning views we are fortunate to have up here in the hills of Gènova, we knew we had to bring the outdoors in. Our covered porch became an extension of our living space, a casual spot where we could hear the birds chirp, admire the neighbor’s crazy cacti and feel the Mediterranean breeze.
We threw in some of our own hand-painted vintage textiles on the porch – not just for looks but to make it feel like an additional living room. It's not about creating a picture-perfect scene; it's about making our compact space more flexible and enjoyable. Now, whether we're inside or outside, we have a comfortable spot to kick back and soak in the laid-back vibes of Mallorca, with a glimpse of the Mediterranean Sea in the background.
