Styling the most enviable historic homes on Mallorca has been another way for us to extend our creative reach & collaborate with an even larger group of artisans.

When we styled this home, Sa Cova in Fornalutx, it was again in collaboration our friend Pernilla Danielsson. We did things a bit differently this time, though: we set out to curate a collection of artisan goods from the island that could give a bit more depth & dimension to our work. As artisans ourselves, it is important that we continue to tell the stories of the people and the artifacts of the island, so it’s not just about showing beautiful homes, but also the story behind them (and the people who have brought soul to them).⁠

The work in particular that we wanted to highlight in this project was that of Arina Antonova, an experimental ceramicist who uses materials from the island to craft each of her one-of-a-kind vessels. She sets out on foot through the Serra Tramuntana and hidden coves of Mallorca to forage & collect sands, dirts, stones and pebbles for each of her glazes. The results are shockingly idiosyncratic pieces that are full of texture, depth & dimension.

Each of the surfaces & details in Sa Cova is a treat on the eyes. From original tiles to original ceiling beams to sturdy Mallorcan mares walls, this home boasts some of the most well-preserved historic details of its time. The generous owner allowed us in to capture its beauty and add a few espanyolet and Arina Antonova pieces to give each room that special finish. Another great collaboration with Pernilla Danielsson where we look at each other and think “how did we get so lucky???”
