When interior designer Chantal Verheijen and architect Arndt Schilkowski from The Dux Mansion asked us to design headboards for the 10 bedrooms in their sweeping Mallorcan vacation rental home, we were thrilled. Built in the 1880s and rehabbed in the 20s, The Dux Mansion is an exquisite example of Art Deco design and a plum project for any creative person to be involved with.
The home was impeccably renovated by Chantal and Arndt, with no detail left unattended. We had so much to work with, from original Mallorcan tile to native marais cut out from the nearby coastline. Typical Mediterranean colors as well as unexpected Art Deco details all provided fodder for our designs.
Every headboard in each of their 10 bedrooms is unique in its shape, size, material and color. And of course we love seeing our designs as such huge canvases to help transform each of the rooms with color and texture.
